Senior Capacity Planning Manager, US Cloud Service Vendor (based in Hong Kong)

About the Job:

The individual in this position will be responsible for coordinating and managing the capacity planning activities for the Network Services team in Asia-Pacific through the development of strategic capacity plans, as well as, establishing tactical solutions needed to ensure that the Cloud Infrastructure platform can support its customers effectively and efficiently. The individual needs to generate applicable forecasts, models & reports that meet projected growth targets, drive efficient deployments and support new product development. In addition, the individual will work closely with other organizations to ensure the plans are communicated effectively and to track the overall progress of adding capacity. 

 

About the Team:

The Capacity Planning and Management team provides proactive capacity planning, along with reactive capacity management in an effort to build an efficient, rapidly extensible, and high performing planetary scale platform which provides sustainable differentiation for the overall global and local product offerings. As a thought leader, the team uses their extensive knowledge of capacity modeling, the Internet eco system and business relationships to devise new ways of decreasing costs while increasing performance.  As the cornerstone, the team drives all types of capacity (port, server, processor) related activities for the Cloud Networks organization and additionally supports external partners by providing them with tools to use to budget for and manage their capacity needs as it relates to the company.

 

Responsibilities:

* Lead, maintain and communicate a quarterly strategic capacity plan that drives partner negotiations, secures capacity orders and results in deployed capacity for the Cloud platform in Asia-Pacific.

* Lead, maintain and communicate tactical capacity plans within the group to ensure the Cloud platform meets the everyday needs of the network.

* Provide ad-hoc capacity related analysis to be used to make both tactical and strategic decisions.

* Lead and/or participate in internal discussions to ensure that the capacity needs are met and the actions are documented.

* Help maintain data integrity in the company’s systems as it relates to capacity modeling activities.

* Track and report overall progress of capacity builds at varying levels of detail.

* Contribute and participate in projects to improve internal processes.



Requirements

Based in Hong Kong.

 

Basic Qualifications:

* Direct experience with Data Modeling and Forecasting

* Minimum of 5+ years experience working as a capacity analyst role in a company in a relevant industry such as a provider of telecom services, Internet services, etc.

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with a technical or scientific background. 

* Fluent in written and spoken English, understands communication issues in multicultural business environments.

 * Ability to lead diverse technical teams, both culturally and geographically

 

Desired Qualifications:

* Direct experience with Content Distribution Networks.

* Knowledge of Internet network operations including those of Internet and network service providers

* Manage the development and implementation of strategic capacity plans

* Manage the development and implementation of tactical capacity plans

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment both as an individual contributor and member of a cross-functional team.

* Positive, goal-oriented attitude and demeanor to work through roadblocks, motivate internal and external dependencies, and bring about project closure.

* Strong coordination and multitasking skills
